Regardless of age, culture, and training, color creates shared mood associations and shifts our perceptions.

Like music, color is an international language that everyone understands. Regardless of age, culture, and training, color creates shared mood associations and shifts our perceptions.

Pastel yellow, for example, creates a vibrant and calming effect. White is a neutral and sterile color that conveys emptiness. Red, by contrast, is considered an arousing and stimulating color that is commonly associated with passion and aggression.

At Valspar, we understand that color shapes the human experience and the built environment. We believe it can lift moods and transform a structure. As a result, we have created over 20,000 colors in our labs. In fact, Valspar has the expertise to create nearly every color under the sun.

Valspar has helped numerous important projects come to life with color. The LEED Gold-certified facility for the Humane Society Silicon Valley has a vibrant palette of Valspar coatings. Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex perfectly mirrors the color scheme of the rocket that launched Atlantis into space with a custom Prismatic Red Coral Yellow. A dramatic, full-scale remodel of a builder’s residence in Maryland contains bold colors and features aluminum metal panels coated in black.

At Valspar, we understand that the use of color is both an art and a science. Our high-performance architectural coats stand up to the elements and keep projects pristine.
