The time has arrived when robots replace humans with the opening of the world’s first hotel run entirely by machines. The Henn-na Hotel (‘Strange Hotel’), located in Sasebo, Japan aims to cut down on labor costs by using robots to welcome guests, carry their luggage and clean their rooms. Featuring young Japanese humanoids, cute little cyborgs and even a robotic dinosaur receptionist, the bizarre hotel is designed to exemplify efficiency through technology.
Guests checking in to the Henn-na Hotel are greeted by a multilingual lady humanoid or a vile-looking dinosaur. Other robots are designed to organize the cloakroom, lifting heavy baggage and storing it in the appropriate place, and a red wheeled-porter take guests´ belongings and guides them to their rooms.

Thanks to face-recognition technology, the rooms open by scanning guests´ faces. Within the rooms a cute bedside table robot controls the lighting and other features by voice command. According to the company’s president, Hideo Sawada, the use of robots isn’t a gimmick but a serious effort to achieve efficiency through technology and provide a truly unforgettable stay.
