There are numerous exercise apps and gadgets that seek to measure calories burned.AND Corporation decided to take its app Tracks one step further by creating an exercise app that turns a run into an action film. Tracks accomplishes this feat by providing runners with a narrative that sets up their run. Then the person goes on a mission to outrun and survive the bad guys: it is set up so the runner feels like the protagonist of an exciting movie.
The team at AND Corporation researched and compiled soundtracks to create a realistic experience for runners. They created an initial story called “Growler,” which includes 15 episodes that take runners through an entire narrative. Each episode is different, presenting unique running sessions filled with sprinting and interval training that guarantee an effective workout.
The team followed a similar process to filmmakers when it combined sound effects for each episode. The soundtrack allows the user to ‘feel’ a gunshot whizzing by and hear buildings collapsing thanks to a large amount of research and testing. Some of the sounds in Tracks were created with Dehumaniser Pro, a vocal processor. Dehumaniser Pro is known for its high quality and was utilized to create sounds for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Jungle Book.

Even though there are no visuals for the runner, the app creates a world that makes it easy for any imagination to enter and follow. People are motivated by a ranking system that lets them collect points through different episodes. It is easy for a runner to view his or her personal feed as well.
The app is ready to be released by the end of June, but is currently raising money onIndiegogo.
