We’ve gotten to know Polish design studio mode:lina architekci for their smart use of natural and recyclable materials in designing retail and co-working spaces, such as the Adam’s Apple store, which was inspired by materials and elements of packaging fruit, and their own office space occupying an old printing house in Poznań. Their most recent project, a restaurant for German retailer LIDL, has a similar communal feel to it, complemented with wooden furniture and quirky signage.
LIDL’s new headquarters in Jankowice, in the suburbs of Poznań, required a new restaurant which would reflect the firm’s philosophy and provide a comfortable space for their employees. They commissioned mode:lina architekci to design the interior and the glass expansion and increase the capacity of the kitchen.
Raw wood, colorful signage and tiles dominate the space and reference the atmosphere of traditional markets. Different decorative logos reference the LIDL brand. The architects divided the restaurantinto different zones with varying seating arrangements and introduced green accents to augment the natural feel and warmth of the space.
